September 5 - Day Off, Great Britain

On a welcome day off, Daniel spoiled us with his delicious café quality coffee, complete with foam.  I ate a bacon buttie for breakfast and hit the second hand charity stores, scoring a 1972 single from a band called Lieutenant Pigeon.

We said farewell to Daniel and hit the Laundromat.  Laundry at Leeds.  Sometimes the rock and roll dream includes clean clothes.  Greg and Esther found some blokes playing some sort of bowling green bocce.

On the way to Nottingham, there was a tremendous poodle at a rest stop.  To me it looked like the dog equivalent of fake tits.  John disagreed.

“I don’t know.  If I were a dog I’d be all over that.”

This created a pause in the conversation followed by gales of laughter.  But we have decided to cancel our trip to the zoo tomorrow.

Our friend Simmo from the internet welcomed us in Nottingham.  While Magnolia is in Ireland, Simmo has organised a show for us at The Arts Organisation.  He also put together the Spanish, French, and Italian portions of our tour.  We thanked him and his lady with copious amounts of wine over a wonderful Italian dinner.

More wine continued back at their flat as Simmo spinned delightful 70’s French-in-Japanese pop, gave us a quick lesson on cricket, and played us a legendary 1985 snooker tournament.  By the way that Lieutenant Pigeon 45 “Mouldy Old Dough” is a mad song that reached #1 in this country.  Its B-side is a minimalist march of growling fuzzbox bass.  I marched all the way up to the 3rd floor and slept on a bed for the first time in almost two weeks.

Not sure where John slept...
